The Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia (IAAC) launches its 11th Advanced Architecture Contest as part of the official program of Barcelona World Capital of Architecture 2026.
Under the theme “Barcelona 2051: City Futures for a Warming Planet” the competition invites participants from around the globe to reflect on how architecture, technology, and ecology can transform urban life in the coming decades.

Participants are encouraged to develop a proposal with the topic and the scale that they choose —architecture, urbanism, landscape, interaction, etc— set in Barcelona or any other city in the world, addressing its cultural, environmental, economic, and social challenges while envisioning new ways of inhabiting the planet.

The international jury will include distinguished experts from across the world.
Each winner will receive a monetary award together with a full scholarship to pursue a Master’s program at IAAC during the academic year 2026–27.
